A short story of Margaux Lemma-Wagenmann (Purple Hands Winery) & Lucia Lemma-Walker (ROCO Winery): Born and raised in the Portland suburbs, these Lemma ladies are 3rd generation wine educators raised in the wine industry. In 1973, their parents alongside their Italian grandfather opened Lemma, Portland’s fine wine distribution company. From there, the two found their calling with a deep rooted love of quality fine wines around the world. Today, they are honored to each represent prestigious family-
ROCO Story: When Rollin Soles and Corby Stonebraker-Soles came to Oregon in the 1980s among a diverse group of entrepreneurs, they arrived at the leading edge of a movement. During this time Ro & Co built wineries, developed foundational industry organizations, and worked to establish Oregon as the premier place to make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay outside of Europe. Firmly rooted in the science of agriculture and fermentation, ROCO carefully builds a vision for what every bottle can be, relying on Rollin’s mastery of techniques and methods of winemaking since co-founding Argyle (1987) and Corby’s instincts as an artist to transform the raw material of beautiful fruit into the exquisite wines you take to your table.
Purple Hands Story: Founded in 2005, Purple Hands celebrates site-specific Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that showcase honesty & purity. Cody Wright, owner & winemaker, has been in the cellar his whole life, with stints at home and abroad-following in his family’s footsteps. The name Purple Hands is meant to depict this work: the work of harvest when your hands are purple and black, rugged from long days and nights of pushing yourself to create and sustain quality. Using traditional winemaking techniques, all of our wines remain unfined and unfiltered at bottling to preserve their natural, pure character. Achieving elegance in this pursuit is the passion and art of our craft.
